Time To Get Help!!
Prolonged Periods Of Feeling Low Or Hopeless

When things feel dark, heavy, or out of control, and aren’t shifting on their own

It May Feel;

like you feel hopeless, like nothing is going to change
like you can’t see a way forward, and I don’t have the energy to find one
Everything feels heavy, flat, or grey
you feel disconnected from yourself and everything around you
your thoughts feel louder, darker, or harder to ignore
you find yourself getting pulled into them more than you used to
you don’t feel like yourself anymore
you're not really getting a break from it, even when you try,

What might be going on

Sometimes your mind shifts from trying to cope… into something that starts to feel overwhelming or hard to manage.

What might have started as stress, pressure, or pushing through can build over time.

You might have:

  • got used to things feeling difficult

  • told yourself to just keep going

  • downplayed what you’ve been dealing with

  • or not realised how much it’s been affecting you

There are also times when people are unaware that they are in situations that are not supportive, or even harmful, and it slowly becomes normal.

When this goes on for a while, it can start to feel like:

  • your thoughts are turning against you

  • your world feels smaller, darker, or harder to move in

  • you’re stuck inside it, without a clear way out

This isn’t weakness.

And it isn’t something you have to figure out on your own.

It’s often a sign that this has moved beyond what small changes can shift — and that more support is needed.

A clear step

If this feels familiar, this is the point to reach out!!

If this is where things are, it’s time to reach beyond this space. You don’t have to sit in it on your own.

You can:speak to your GP for ongoing support

call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option

or talk to someone straight away through Samaritans (116 123)

If you’re in immediate danger, go to A&E or call 999.

You don’t need to wait until it gets worse.

Start with:

  • your GP

  • a counsellor or therapist

  • or telling someone you trust exactly how it feels

There is also a text based helpline,

  • Text SHOUT to 85258 → 24/7 text support

best for:

  • people who don’t want to talk out loud

  • younger people / late-night moments

Asking for help is brave.

Your mental health deserves the same care as your physical health.

If things feel this heavy, it’s time to reach beyond this space.
Support is there — and you deserve it.
