I can’t get going

When you want to move forward but cannot seem to get started.

It may feel like:

You know what you need to do, but you are just not doing it.
You keep putting things off.
You feel stuck and do not know where to start.
You scroll or distract yourself instead.
You feel frustrated with yourself.
You want to move, but you cannot.

What Might Be Going On

This isn’t laziness.

When things feel like too much, your system can slow everything down to protect you.

Instead of pushing forward, it pauses.

This can look like avoiding things, overthinking, or staying still even when you want to move.

The more pressure you put on yourself to “just get on with it,” the harder it can feel to start.

Nothing has gone wrong here.

This is often what overwhelm looks like when it turns inward.

A small reset

Make it smaller.

Not the whole task, just the first tiny step.

What is the smallest thing I could do right now?

Even something simple like standing up, opening the page, or starting for two minutes is enough.

You may feel...

Knowing what needs doing but feeling unable to begin, even when you want to.

Gentle reminder...

This is not laziness. It is often overwhelm turning inward.

Common signs...

Putting things off, scrolling, overthinking, feeling frustrated with yourself and not knowing where to start.

Next Step

Make the task smaller. Choose the first tiny step, even if that is standing up, opening the page or starting for two minutes.
