Intentionally Doing Nothing
Choosing to rest on purpose, instead of ending up there feeling bad about it
This May Help When;
you're feeling exhausted but still trying to push through,
you end up on the sofa but you're not actually resting,
feeling guilty for slowing down,
you are low in energy, but resisting it.

What's Going On?
This isn’t giving up or being lazy.
It’s making a clear decision to stop for a set amount of time,
instead of half-working, half-resting, and feeling bad about both.
It turns something that feels unproductive into something that actually supports you.
How to do it
Set a simple boundary (e.g. “I’ll do what needs doing for 30 minutes, and set a timer”)
Then stop on purpose
Choose something easy — a film, snacks, a blanket
Settle in without trying to do anything else
The key is: it’s intentional, not accidental
Why it works
When you try to push through with no energy, you often end up stopping anyway just without actually resting.
Your mind stays active, telling you that you “should” be doing something else.
By choosing to stop properly, you remove that internal push and allow your body to actually switch off.
Rest works better when it’s allowed
You’re not behind, you’re responding to what you need
Doing less on purpose is different from avoiding things
This can be a short rest, it doesn’t have to be the whole day
If you’re going to stop anyway, you may as well let yourself rest properly.
