Understanding Tarot
Tarot is less about knowing and more about noticing.
Start where you are, and let your understanding develop as you go.
Understanding The Tarot Deck
A tarot deck contains 78 cards and is divided into two sections:
The Major Arcana and The Minor Arcana.
They work together, but speak to different layers of experience.
I work with the Rider–Waite deck.
I’m drawn to its imagery — it’s clear, symbolic, and layered, which makes it one of the best decks to learn with and to work from.
The Rider-Waite deck is the foundation for most modern tarot, and it aligns beautifully with the way I use tarot on this website: as a tool for reflection and orientation, not prediction.
You might hear that your first deck “has to be a gift.” I don’t believe that.
However you feel drawn to your deck, whether you choose it yourself or receive it, is the right way.
The connection is what matters.
